Terms of Use
Last updated: 16 June 2026
These terms govern your use of the DCLM Jotter mobile application. By installing or using DCLM Jotter, you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, please uninstall the app.
Who we are
DCLM Jotter is an independent companion app built to serve members of Deeper Christian Life Ministry. The app is not an official publication of Deeper Christian Life Ministry. Bundled content (the King James Bible, the DCLM Gospel Hymns & Songs lyrics, the Morning & Evening devotion) is reproduced from public-domain or freely-distributed sources for the personal devotional use of members.
What you can do
- Use DCLM Jotter for personal study, prayer, and worship.
- Share individual verses, hymns, devotions, or your own jottings freely with anyone, in any medium.
- Save, export, or copy any of your own jotter content at any time. It's yours.
- Use every feature of the free tier — Bible, hymns, devotion, radio, jotter, search, reminders — without an account and without paying.
- Optionally purchase Jotter Plus, a one-time, lifetime in-app purchase, to unlock cloud backup, additional worship-themed themes, beautiful image shares, PDF export, and the weekly walk chart.
What we ask you not to do
- Don't redistribute the bundled hymn, Bible, or devotion data as part of another app, product, or commercial offering.
- Don't reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app to bypass its design, including any future optional paid features.
- Don't use the app to harass, defame, or harm anyone — for example, by sharing offensive material framed as "jotter notes."
- Don't attempt to access another user's cloud-backup data, or use the auth flow in ways the app doesn't intend.
Your data is yours
Jottings, bookmarks, highlights, and favourites you create inside the app are stored on your device. You own this content. While you are not signed in, nothing leaves the phone. If you choose to sign in for cloud backup, the same content is also mirrored to a per-user folder in Google Cloud Firestore that only you can access — see the Privacy Policy for the full picture of what is stored where and which third-party services are involved.
Your account (optional)
Cloud backup is opt-in and is part of Jotter Plus (see the "Jotter Plus" section below). You can use every other feature of the app — Bible, hymns, devotion, radio, jotter, search, reminders — without an account and without paying.
- Signing out ends the auth session on this device and clears the local Plus entitlement flag on the same device. Your local data stays exactly where it is — sign-out does not delete anything, and the cloud copy of your data stays too. Sign back in any time to resume sync, and tap "Restore purchase" inside the Plus sheet if Plus gates appear locked after signing in.
- Deleting your account (Settings → profile card → "Delete account") removes your cloud copy — jottings, bookmarks, highlights, favourites — and then deletes the auth user. Data already on this device stays so you don't lose what you wrote. To remove the local copy too, uninstall the app or clear its storage.
- Shared devices. If another brother signs in on the same device, the app marks any previous brother's still-pending local edits as already synced before doing anything else. The previous brother's offline edits stay on the device but cannot leak into the new account's cloud copy.
Jotter Plus (lifetime in-app purchase)
Jotter Plus is an optional, one-time, lifetime in-app purchase
sold through Google Play. The product identifier is
jotter_plus_lifetime. It is not a
subscription — there are no monthly bills, no yearly
renewals, and no automatic charges of any kind. You pay once,
and Plus stays yours for as long as you have access to the same
Google Play account on a device that supports DCLM Jotter.
What Plus unlocks: cloud backup (signing in to sync your jottings, bookmarks, highlights, and favourite hymns), the additional worship-themed themes beyond the three free defaults, image shares for verses and hymns, PDF export for any jotting, and the weekly walk chart in your walk summary. The free tier — Bible, hymns, devotion, radio, jotter, search, reminders — is and remains fully usable without Plus and at no charge.
Pricing & currency. The Plus price is set in your local currency by Google Play based on Google's currency conversion and local tax rules. The price shown in the in-app purchase sheet is the price you'll be charged, inclusive of any applicable taxes (e.g. VAT in Nigeria, sales tax in the US). DCLM Jotter does not surcharge or modify the Google-shown price in any way.
Account binding. Plus is tied to your Google Play account, not to your Firebase / DCLM Jotter account, and not to your phone. Brethren who switch devices, uninstall and reinstall, or factory-reset can recover Plus instantly by tapping "Restore purchase" inside the Plus sheet (Settings → Jotter Plus → Restore purchase, or any locked surface → Restore purchase).
Refunds. Refunds, billing questions, and chargebacks are governed by the Google Play refund policy. DCLM Jotter does not process refunds directly because we never handle your payment — Google Play does. To request a refund, use the Google Play "Order History" page on your account or contact Google Play support.
Future of Plus. We may add more features to Plus over time. Brethren who have already purchased Plus are entitled to every future addition at no extra charge — the "lifetime" framing is binding. We may not remove or move existing Plus features into a separate, additionally-paid tier without giving Plus brethren access to those features for free.
Bundled and linked content credits
- King James Version (KJV) Bible text — public domain.
- DCLM Gospel Hymns & Songs lyrics — reproduced for the personal devotional use of DCLM members. Composer and copyright information for individual hymns is credited where known.
- Morning & Evening devotion — Charles Spurgeon's classic daily reading, public domain.
-
Hymn audio (where available) — streamed and
downloaded directly from the DCLM Florida WordPress media
library (
dclmfl.wordpress.com). DCLM Jotter does not host or re-encode the audio. Sung by the Adult Choir of DCLM Florida. -
Bible chapter audio — Alexander Scourby's
public-domain reading of the King James Version, streamed and
downloaded directly from the Internet Archive
(
archive.org). DCLM Jotter does not host or re-encode the audio. -
YouTube hymn links — for hymns without a
hosted audio file, the app opens YouTube with a search query
(e.g.
GHS 254 Lower and Lower). DCLM Jotter does not host, choose, or moderate the resulting videos. -
DCLM Radio streams (audio) — broadcast
directly from Deeper Christian Life Ministry's own
infrastructure (
airtime.dclm.org). DCLM Jotter does not host or re-encode the audio. - DCLM Radio video mode (webcast) — when you switch the Radio full player to Video, the app mounts an embedded YouTube IFrame Player pointed at DCLM's live webcast URL. The video stream is governed by YouTube's terms of service.
No warranty
DCLM Jotter is provided as-is and as-available, without warranty of any kind. We can't guarantee the app will be free of bugs, that notifications will fire on every device, that the radio stream will always be reachable, or that third-party audio sources (DCLM Florida, the Internet Archive, YouTube) will remain available. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we accept no liability for loss or damage that arises from the use (or inability to use) the app.
Changes to the app and these terms
We may add, change, or remove features in future versions of the app. We may update these terms from time to time; the updated version will live at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
